UDK is a free version of Unreal Engine 3 or 4 but number 4 is the new latest version for publishing games on Xbox One and PS4. Whereas UDK you can publish games for PC or Mac, and also selling it with a $99 market license and if any games sold and earn $50,000 it will reduce by 25% by Epic Games for their share.
What I like about UDK, is very more industry based program than Unity because Unity is good for arcade games for downloadable content on PC and good for android/mobile gaming.
UDK is more common because a lot of major industry companies such as 2K games, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Epic Games, Activision, they used it for their games. Even some film industries used it such as Third Floor, and Warner Brothers for cinematic.
